Another World ! My Diving Experience

My old speech in toastmaster (Some paragraph were not true!! esp get a baby @@)

What can be more frustrating and exhausting to start a day than to be stuck in heavy traffic for an hour, chasing endless deallines, shuffling from meeting to meeting and multiples commitment from family and colleagues Nothing. All of us go throught these ups and downs that trigger bad days. One really had difficulty to make time for themselves in this busy world.

Flashing back early 2018, my new year resolutions were
1. To get a girlfriend
2. To get a wife
3. To get a baby
None of my resolutions was achieved
The time remaining till the end of 2018 was 32days.

I was stressed up for my hectic work life and my 2018 resolutions seem unachievable.
I decided to take few days leave and off to Langkawi to recharge my inner batteries.
I had signed up for a 3days beginer diving course by PADI (professional association of diving instructor)
PADI diving textbook

I am not a good swimmer, in fact I am fear of water.
By signing up this course, I believed I can overcome my fear, and explore the underwater world with the hope of searching a pretty sea mermaid. Thereafter, live in a happy life.
Just kidding...

Pantai Cenang Langkawi
Langkawi is made up of 99islands on malaysia’s west coast. The islands are a part of the state of Kedah. Since this was my first time scuba-diving, a professional instructor, Yusof, took me under his wing.

For the 1st day, an introductory class to diving was conducted. I was being introduced the equipment, the rules, and some serious medical condition which can be occurred during diving.
Lung can be overexpansion and caused difficulties in breathing. Decompression syndrome which can lead to death. All of this conditions terrified me. After that, i was trained in the pool using all the scuba equipments. Yusof taught me all the basic gear handling techniques, and emergency tips. I was trained to breathe in and breath out using mouth only.

The 1st day of diving was super challenging for me. We travel to 1 island about 40min distance, called coral garden, which was our diving location. For my 1st dive, I will dive up to 12meter only. I was anxious and struggled to calm myself down in the sea. Your emotion will greatly affect the oxygen usage. You will breath more rapidly. After quick adjustment and adaptation, finally I started to appreciate and explore this mysterious and magnificience underwater world

The underwater world was quiet, that the only thing I could hear was my own breath. It was calm and peaceful. When I look around, you can enjoyed the beautiful coral underneath me, small little nemo, sea snake and colorful fishes. We were like dancing with the fishes in the sea.

I was amazed at the infinite lengths of the ocean I could see. Unlike in big cities, where your vision is hindered by numerous obstacles, inside this underwater all I saw was clear-cut beauty.

I believe some of you watched some drama before.
During diving, one of the diver out of gas and they had to share the oxygen using the same regulator. In fact this is not true. There was always 1alternate gas regulator for your partner to use.
We performed emergency gas exchange using each other regulator to breathe.

You can easily get lost inside this mysterious world. And you felt helpless and when you face problems, you can scream/ call for help. All we can do was to calm ourselves down and ask for help using hand sign. Fortunately, my instructor Yusof guide me throughout the diving session. During diving, you had to check out for your oxygen cylinder level consistently, if oxygen level too low, you will have limited time to ascend up to surface

Finally, i completed total of 4dive in 2days. Sadly, I didn’t found any sea mermaid or any pearl. Old grandmother story lied to me. But I found myself fall in love in this amazing underwater world.
Its magnifience, beauty and peace. I will surely take some off day and go for another diving session in future with more sunblock.
