Disappointment....Society Today...
A lecturer of mine once told me, "never be Selective Hearing during your exam, you might dig your own grave"....Because you tend to answer PART of the questions, not the FULL questions.
However, our society tend to be selective...
My country made up of various kind of races with different religion, cultures and background. Long time ago, we were united to free ourselves from colonialism of other country. We were taught since kindergarten or primary school that, we should respect each other, we should be kind and show love to each other even though we had different color of skin, color of eyes, or even spelling of name.
However, when an issue (IT issue in KL recently) occurred and coincidentally involving 2 different races, things change. Everything we had learnt; we threw away, everything we had knew; we forgot it. I feel so sad and disappointed with the behavior of the society....really sad about this phenomenon.
This incident occurred....There were 2 version of stories about this incident :
Story 1 told us that well doing of Race A and wrong doing of Race B
Story 2 told us that well doing of Race B and wrong doing of Race B
These 2 stories spread like viral in various social networking such as Facebook, twitter etc.
Race A was very determine about story 1 is the truth, while Race B was very determine about story 2 is the truth. Who you believe?
Questions came in...
How come they can so sure about which story is true? which story is false? Are they the one involved in the incident?? Surprisingly NOPE...most of them are not involving in this incident.
We Can Very Sure who is right who is wrong (sarcastic) !....as long as we are selective!!! We select our own Race...we believe our own Race is the one who are always right, who are always the good one, while we tend to selectively accuse all the wrong things toward the other races.
Yes...these occurred in my beloved country.... how sad isn't it?
Once you become selective, you will never ever be Neutral...You will never ever had the great mind to look at the whole incident. Bias occurs and your mind narrowed down.
So you can see various kind of stories spreading in various social networking because our society had lost their power to judge in a non-bias way.
Hope this post can remind some of you who once are selective, and of course to myself too. Let us be better in future. Still there is always hope at the end of the rainbow.
Say No to Racism...We are Malaysian...Together we united, together we stand.
