Recently, viral news regarding sexual harassment of HOD orthopedic towards house officers. Further steps for investigating this issue had been carried out now.
Hence come to a question: Do all orthopedic surgeons gatal-gatal ?
Definitely not !! The truth was some of the male creatures were gatal.

Since I entered orthopedic posting, in my 3rd week i was chosen to become HO leader again. It was a troublesome, tired, time consuming, energy wasting job. Situation forced me to accept this task. What made this posting tough was :

1) 3explanation letters from MO/ Specialist - you will be extended
2) Long working hours
3) Heavy lifting most of the time (for girls) + bedside delsoughing + Plating/ vest company
4) Pass over case presentation

Hence, since starting of this posting, i tried to be very careful and meticulous in managing every single patients. I was lucky enough and I did not receive any explanation letter throughout my posting (hahaha...hebat leh~) You need to be pay more attention for every details of your patients, carried out your plan well. Not to forgot, orthopedic MOs were "not good/ tired" in managing patient's medical condition, in their eyes, bone and tissues were far more important. Hence, please keep yourself update how to correct K+ , Na+, hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, high BP, arrthymia etc. Get help from your senior (hahaha, senior in orthopedic is god).
Your job was to make sure patients able to go for operation!

Furthermore, long working hours will keep you fatigue esp for night shit people. You will work from 6pm to next day 1pm or later ( till clinic finished) then you come to work again at 6pm till next day 1pm or 2pm. Then you have a post call rest. After 2 days of crazy night which transformed you into a zombie, basically you will beg your leader to put you post call off + off day to ensure you have adequate rest. Fortunately, you will gain 1off day per week in orthopedic posting!!!!

Besides long working night shift, you had to present all the new admissions in "Power point slides" to all the specialist and medical officers. Sometimes, up to 10+ admissions per night. You had to find your time to finish your slides, took wound/ xray photos. If you do not know the cases well/ did not present well, you will get a explanation letter soon =D hahaha....so many traps in orthopedic posting.

Enough for shit things (i do not want to mention desloughing/ contact agent for plate/ rod, smelly diabetic foot wound)
Let move to good things
-you can do a lot of things such as amputation of toes/ calcaneal pin insertion/ POP/ debridement/ external fixation
IF you like hand on stuff, you will like orthopedic.
I do not know who are the MO /Specialist now, so i cannot comment on that.
The orthopedic surgeon are very Hebat! They are creative and skillful! I learnt alot from them.

Last but not least, there was a final exam at the end of the posting. The exam comprised of one best answer and written. It was not difficult as long as you were doing your job well throughout the posting.
Just open your heart, be MO and specialists' friends. Gained your knowledge throughout the pathway. You will pass this posting!

Still lots of memories not able to be described here due to ......i am tired and lazy. Hahaha....
Let move on to 5th posting next- Anaesthetic (the person who had the highest level in hospital).
