It had been so long for me to write a new post in this blog. I almost forgot that this blog ever exist in my life. My last post was around July 2016- been almost 1years of inactive. Many things happened for past 1year. I fall into deep valley without light of hope, then i climb up with the helps of my family and new friends. Truly appreciated and grateful about it

I had been working in HSIJB since August 2015 as a house officer. 4month waiting period and i get my job. However, current trend for new houseman- waiting list was >6month , some even till 1year. This was quite depressing and it enter era of contract house officer which mean those who was irresponsible, missing in action, bad attitude will soon be eliminated.

The purpose of this post was to encourage HO-to be to choose HSIJB as training place. After almost 2years training (2month month MO-to be), i truly felt HSIJB was quite good. These was just base on my experience, opinion only (not evidence base), and each environment change periodically (people come and goes)

Let talk about medical posting here...
1st poster entering medical was not easy. As we know, medical was super busy with tons of workload, multiple branula insertion, blood taking and procedures. As a beginner, you were expected to familiar the system, environment, skill in branula insertion and blood taking during your tagging period.
Tagging period in medical here for 1st poster was 14days, while 2nd poster onward was 1week.
It was really depressing during my tagging period, i come to work at 4.30am-5am, go back home at around 12am (sometimes even till 2-3am if you havent settle your work/patient collapsed). Some of the senior was not that helpful, some of the time you had to depend on your own. I still remember during my tagging period, i cried once during my way back home as i felt so helpless with my work, my colleguea. But once you had passed through that critical point, you will survive your housemanship well. Luckily i passed through it !

During my times, my medical MO was so helpful, nice and responsible. Anything you not sure or dont know, you can call them up and they will come and help. Some of them was willing to teach you and guide you (not that kind of superior / inferior relationship). Specialist was nice too. But times flies, some of MO had switch to other places /become specialist. Nevertheless, the medical boss still nice!

The most headache part in medical department was Personal report (you will know when you come to work here). Besides, you need to go down to ED to clerk new cases, settling new cases. Luckily, your MO will be always there for you to guide you and to give you the full plan. Hence, you were confident in carry out the plan. You also get the chance to do CVL insertion, CVC insertion, lumbar puncture, pleural tapping ,abdominal tapping or chest tube insertion. Furthermore, you will be accessed every month for your knowledge in medical (life long learning is important). After medical posting, you will realized that you will be more confident in managing DM, HTN etc. Branula, blood taking ,ABG, CRP will be just part and parcel of your daily activities.

It was the environment here which made me love this posting. Helpful and friendly boss will definitely make your work less stressful!

Let talk about other department later....
