Back to house officers working hours...

As we know, government had fixed new rules for house officers' flexi hours
House officers now working less and less

Currently the amount of working hours fixed to 60-62 hours. Generally, there are 3 types of shift:

AM shift
-from 7am till 5pm  (total 10 hours)

PM shit
-from 7am till 9pm (total 14 hours)

Night shift
-from 8pm till 9am (total 13 hours)

You cannot get 2 shifts in the same day. Meaning you cant work AM shift then do night shift.
Hence, every house officer can have enough time to rest.
Besides, there is a compulsory off day for each week (you cannot decide on which day, depend on department's status, you might get your off day on weekday)

You will be granted 8 days annual leave + 2 medical sick leave.

I do believe house officers can have more time to rest in order to function better.  However, do bear in mind, experience and knowledge come from patients. The more hardworking you are, the more experience and knowledgeable you are.

I have no comment about the working hours even though current flexi hours behave like nurses' working system. All i care are working attitude and patients' welfare.
Ward round started at 7.30am. Do you able to know your patients well in 30 minutes before ward round started? If you cant, you cant understand what we are discussing during ward round, and you cant participate in the treatment/ management. And as such, i do not believe you can learn well.

Anyhow, you can be proactive and more initiative. I do see some of the house officers who are hardworking and proactive. I believe they can achieve well in future. Still have faith in those hardworking house officers!
